Bralette Fit 101: How to Tell When It Fits Just Right

Two models pose casualy on a white couch wearing Bliss sets in Quartz. The left model wears the Bliss Bralette and the right model wears the Bliss Triangle Bralette.

Bralettes are supposed to be the comfy alternative to bras. So why does yours still dig, ride up, or squish your boobs into a uniboob?

Spoiler: even the softest bralette can feel off if it doesn’t actually fit right. But it doesn’t have to be this way. With a few quick checks, you can find the perfect fit that feels as good as it looks.

Here’s how to tell when your bralette is really doing its job, and how Harper Wilde can help you get there.

1. The band should feel secure, without squeezing you

The band is the foundation of any good bralette. It should sit flat against your skin without rolling, riding up, or digging in.

If you’re seeing deep red marks at the end of the day, or if the band keeps shifting, it’s likely the wrong size. Try something with a wide underband, like our original Bliss Bralette or Bliss Triangle Bralette.

2. Your boobs should be contained, not compressed

Bralettes can be minimal, but that doesn’t mean you should settle for a uniboob.

The right size will lift and hold your boobs, not flatten them. Our signature Bliss Bump Band was made specifically to lift and separate.

The Bliss Scoop Bralette has molded cups that separate even further, and the Bliss Plunge Adjustable Bralette has a deep neckline to keep the girls separated in low cut tops.

3. The straps should stay put, without digging in

Straps should offer support — not act like they're holding on for dear life and leaving dents in your shoulders.

Adjustable straps make a big difference. Try a style with customizable support like our Bliss Racerback Bralette, which checks the boxes for both function and form.

4. You should forget you’re wearing it

If you’re constantly adjusting, fidgeting, or daydreaming about taking it off, your bra doesn’t fit right.

When it does fit right, you’ll barely notice it. We’ve even had reviews of women who wore their Harper Wilde Bliss Bralettes into the shower because they legitimately forgot they had them on!

Have ultra sensitive skin? Start with ultra-soft cotton-modal styles like the Cloud Cotton Thin Strap Bralette.
